SECURIFY ENDORSES NATIONAL STRATEGY TO SECURE CYBERSPACE
Security Policy Compliance To Play Critical Role in Plan's Success
STANFORD, Calif., September 18, 2002 - Securify, Inc., a
pioneer and leader in network security policy solutions, today
lent its support to the National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace
presented today by the President's Critical Infrastructure
Board. Stressing the critical role security policy compliance
and continuous security threat assessments will play in ensuring
the plan's success, Mark Hangen, Securify president and CEO
and Taher Elgamal, CTO and founder, were among a select group
of attendees supporting Richard Clarke, director of the Office
of Cyberspace Security, in this important announcement.
"Mr. Clarke's announcement sets an important precedent
for commercial and government organizations, but now it is
everyone's responsibility to ensure they are doing their part
to comply," said Mark Hangen, president and CEO of Securify.
"We are pleased to see this kind of leadership, and expect
to work closely with our customers to enable them to improve
their network security and ensure security policy compliance."
"We are working in partnership with major federal organizations
to deliver the kind of policy-based network security management
they need to participate in this plan," said Carl Wright,
vice president of federal operations for Securify. "It
is our hope this national strategy to secure cyberspace will
dramatically increase everyone's awareness of the need for
deploying policy-based solutions to increase security."
Formulated by industry in cooperation with the federal government,
the plan is designed to facilitate technologies and practices
to protect utility, communications, transportation, financial,
government and other critical infrastructure components from
disruption by cyber attack.
About Securify SecurVantage
Securify's SecurVantage™ product enables enterprises
to easily and cost-effectively ensure that their complex networks
properly implement and comply with business-driven network
security policies. Using SecurVantage, enterprises can create
a formal set of requirements - a "policy" describing
the "correct" behavior of the network - based on
corporate security policy and business practices. Using these
requirements, SecurVantage continuously evaluates, in real
time, the packets moving across the network, at all levels
of the protocol stack, and makes decisions as to whether or
not the traffic is consistent with the customer-defined policy.
This information is then clearly presented in a Web-based
analysis environment in a format specific to the business.
The SecurVantage solution provides detailed information on
all aspects of network security, including network topology;
applications and services for logical network groups; and
asset vulnerabilities. Additionally, trend reports based upon
policy violations can assess specific areas of network operation.
These reports include violation trends by host group; root
cause analysis of recurring events; total traffic and violations
by type of service; device configuration status; access procedure
compliance; service status by host group; and quality of service
for encryption and password strength.
Securify SecurVantage consists of Securify SecurVantage Studio,
the policy development and analysis environment; Securify
SecurVantage Monitor, the monitoring and evaluation system;
and Securify SecurVantage Enterprise, which aggregates and
analyzes data across an enterprise.
