IRA WINKLER JOINS SECURIFY ADVISORY BOARD
Renowned Expert Brings In-Depth Knowledge of Network Security Risks
CUPERTINO, Calif., June 21, 2006 - Securify®, Inc. today announced that world-renowned security expert Ira Winkler has joined its advisory board. Ira Winkler, CISSP, is president of the Internet Security Advisors Group and vice president of marketing for the Information Systems Security Association. He is best known for identifying common trends in the way information and computer systems are compromised. He does this by performing espionage simulations, where he physically and technically "breaks into" the largest companies in the world (at their request) in order to assess their security vulnerabilities.
Winkler is an in-demand independent security analyst and noted author, and his latest book Spies Among Us details how American corporations are losing as much as $300 billion annually to various security breaches and other criminal activity. He also wrote best selling security primers Corporate Espionage and Through the Eyes of the Enemy, and is a regular columnist for Computerworld Magazine.
Winkler's career took shape during his time with the National Security Agency where he served as an intelligence and computer systems analyst. He has performed studies on Information Warfare for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and has also served on an advisory group to the National Infrastructure Protection Center. Due to his background and extensive work in the private sector, Winkler has been inducted into the Information Systems Security Association Hall of Fame. Winkler was also previously director of technology of the National Computer Security Association. Winkler will bring his extensive knowledge to bear upon Securify's approach to solving the issues of insider threats and securing network relationships.
"Corporations and government agencies are clamoring for the type of visibility and control of network relationships that Securify enables," said Winkler. "Reducing risk. Real understanding of network activity for security and compliance. Actionable information about what each individual user is doing. Securify is delivering these critical capabilities to leading global companies and government entities. I look forward to enhancing Securify's evolutionary approach to network security monitoring."
"Ira Winkler occupies a unique leadership position in the field of security, and we're thrilled that he's bringing his vast wealth of experience and insight to Securify," said Buck French, Securify CEO. "His knowledge and guidance will be of tremendous value as we continue to advance the security posture of customers through our unique offerings for both the enterprise and government markets."
Winkler is the latest high-profile addition to the Securify advisory board, which now includes industry experts such as Enzo Micali, CIO of 1-800-FLOWERS.COM and Steve Black, COO of United Healthcare.
