SECURIFY AND ARTEL JOIN FORCES TO PROTECT GOVERNMENT NETWORKS
Strategic Partnership Strengthens Information Assurance and Homeland Defense Security
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, and RESTON, Virginia, September
15, 2003 - Securify, Inc., a pioneer and leader in network
security policy solutions, and ARTEL Incorporated, a leader
in providing information security solutions for business and
government clients around the world, today announced a strategic
alliance to advance government network security compliance,
ensuring the myriad security devices and policies within various
government agencies and departments actually accomplish the
protection they were designed for. Through the partnership,
ARTEL will employ the Securify SecurVantageTM automated network
security management system as a key component in its arsenal
of tools to rapidly assess and baseline an organization's
security posture and ensure compliance for their network security
solutions.
ARTEL’s Information Assurance Division will employ Securify
SecurVantage to quickly reveal the true effective security
policy resulting from an organization’s current security
operations, highlighting the differences between the security
described in the narrative security plan and the security
actually being achieved by routers, firewalls and other network
defenses. Unlike traditional security auditing – a subjective
assessment that focuses on historic results captured as a
snapshot in time – SecurVantage enables ARTEL’s
security professionals to provide its customers with a continuous,
objective and measurable picture of actual changes in data
traffic to expose potential security lapses.
“SecurVantage will enable our team of professionals
to quickly perform their information assurance tasks by instantly
providing a clear picture of how well a network is behaving
from a security perspective, and quickly pinpointing where
potential problems may lie,” said Dennis Hotetz, deputy
director, IA Group, ARTEL Incorporated. “As our customers’
dynamic networks change over time, SecurVantage will allow
us to ensure they are still achieving the level of security
they require.”
ARTEL’s Information Assurance Division has contracts
with several U.S. government organizations, including the
Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Defense Information Systems
Agency (DISA), the Department of Defense Education Activity
(DoDEA), among others.
“Our partnership with ARTEL is the most recent example
of the broad acceptance SecurVantage is receiving within the
government marketplace as a powerful method for ensuring the
efficacy of complex network security implementations and policies,”
said Carl Wright, vice president of federal operations at
Securify. “We look forward to working closely with the
professionals at ARTEL to implement our unique approach to
security compliance.”
About Securify SecurVantage
Securify SecurVantage consists of Securify SecurVantage Studio,
the policy development and analysis environment; Securify
SecurVantage Monitor, the monitoring and evaluation system;
and Securify SecurVantage Enterprise, which aggregates and
analyzes data across an enterprise. Using SecurVantage, enterprises
can create a formal set of requirements network traffic must
comply with – a "policy" describing the "correct"
behavior of the network – based on corporate security
policy and business practices. Using these requirements, SecurVantage
continuously evaluates, in real time, the packets moving across
the network at all levels of the protocol stack, and makes
decisions as to whether or not the traffic is consistent with
the policy. This information is then clearly presented in
a Web-based analysis environment in a format appropriate to
the specific business.
The SecurVantage solution provides detailed information on
all aspects of network security, including network topology;
applications and services for logical network groups; and
asset vulnerabilities. Additionally, trend reports based upon
policy violations can assess specific areas of network operation.
These reports include violation trends by host group; root
cause analysis of recurring events; total traffic and violations
by type of service; device configuration status; access procedure
compliance; service status by host group; and quality of service
for encryption and password strength.
